Capture guide & operating notes
Capture requirements
- All captures in a profile must be the same board design, revision and side.
- Use a fixed camera position, distance and orientation — a copy stand or jig.
- Keep lighting stable and diffuse. Avoid moving specular highlights.
- Keep the whole board in focus, at a resolution where the smallest feature of interest spans several pixels.
- Register several independent good boards rather than repeat shots of one board. Three or more enables automatic threshold calibration.
- Mask anything that legitimately varies per unit — serial labels, hand marks, movable connector shells — using ignore regions.
Operating notes
- Alignment uses a global planar transform. Tall components photographed from a different viewpoint retain a parallax offset; keep the camera fixed.
- The PatchCore channel is position-agnostic and is complemented by the spatially-corresponding reference-comparison channel. Both are selectable.
- Threshold calibration is derived from the registered good-board captures and characterises normal board-to-board variation.
- Region scores are calibrated anomaly distances. Flagged regions are routed to operator verification.
